Exfoliation is the first and most important step in skin care, both with respect to body and face. The easiest and most inexpensive method to exfoliate is to use scrubs with home-based kitchen ingredients: sugar, salt, coffee, and corn grits.
The benefits of exfoliation:
- Removes dead skin cells, which cause dryness and lack of skin lustre;
- Makes your skin softer;
- Improves blood circulation which, in turn, prevents or fights cellulite;
- Prepares your skin before applying cream or other skin care products, and facilitate better absorption;
Scrubs must be applied gently on clean skin, in a circular and delicate motion to stimulate circulation without reddening the skin!
Coffee-based natural body scrub
Mix: 4 teaspoons of coffee grits, 1 teaspoon of honey, 2 teaspoons of brown sugar, and 6 teaspoons of coconut or olive oil.
Sugar-based natural body scrub
Mix: 1 teacup of brown sugar, ¼ teacup coconut oil, 2 teaspoons of honey, few drops of essential lemon oil, few drops of essential lavender or mint oil.
Corn grits-based natural body scrub
Mix: 3-4 teaspoons of corn girts, 1 teaspoon of honey, and 2 teaspoons of olive oil.
Sea salt-based natural body scrub
Mix: 1 teacup of sea salt, ½ teacup of grapeseed oil, 4 drops of essential lavender oil.
