The Romanian national team started the qualification for the European Championship 2020 with a defeat against Sweden (1-2); the goal of our team was scored in the second half (58th minute) by Claudiu Keseru. The performance of the Romanian team left a lot to be desired in the first half when the Swedes scored both goals. However, half-time was beneficial for our team. The national coach Cosmin Contra managed to revitalize a team without clear game ideas. That’ s why the Romanians showed themselves to be completely different after the halftime, which had a positive effect on their game. Shortly after the second kick-off Claudiu Kesero scored a wonderful header goal. In the last phase of the game, the Romanians were, fortunately, able to fend off an offensive action by the Swedes. The defender Christian Sapunaru fended off the attack and thus prevented the 3-1 of the opponent.
On Tuesday (26 March 2019) at 21:45, the Romanian team won their second qualifying match with a clear 4-1 against the Faroese national team. The four goals of our team were scored by Deac, Keseru and the young striker Puscas. The Romanians took many scoring chances for themselves, but not all of them: the national team, unfortunately, missed the opportunity to score the first goal by Ianis Hagi. The game took place in Cluj’s full stadium.
We keep our fingers crossed for the Romanian national team that things will continue so positively!
