After a five-hour debate, the European Union has set a new deadline for Brexit. October 31 is the date on which the UK will leave the EU, but has the possibility to leave the bloc even earlier if Theresa May can get the House of Commons support for the Brexit agreement, writes .BBC.

“Postponing is as flexible as I expected and is a bit shorter than expected, but there is plenty of time to find a solution. Please do not waste your time! “Said Donald Tusk, President of the European Council.

Emmanuel Macron, the president of France, believes that the European Union “can not be the long-term hostage to the political crisis in the UK”, which is why he was ready at some point  to assume a Brexit without agreement amid  British hesitations.

Instead, German Chancellor Angela Merkel believes that reintroduction of customs tariffs between the UK and its neighbors would particularly affect the German economy.
