The 18-year-old Bianca Andreescu with Romanian roots won the WTA tournament in Indian Wells, California for the first time. She won in the final against the German player Angelique Kerber with 6: 4, 3: 6, 6: 4, after two hours and 18 minutes.

For Bianca Andreescu, who is currently living in Canada, her first title in her career is of great importance. Due to her victory, she rose to 24th place in the worldwide ranking for this year. Throughout the tour, she was supported by Canadian and Romanian fans in the stands. Although she was born in Canada, she made her first steps in tennis in the Romanian town of Pitesti where she visited her grandparents.
After two years in Romania, the Andreescu family returned to Canada. There, Andreescu joined Canada’s tennis team. After her last victory in Indian Wells, Andreescu thanked her fans in Canada and Romania.
